Casteele's New Paint and New Rig

The rig was professionally replaced in 2012. 

• NEW 10mm 1x19 Dyform (lowers caps and forestay) and 10mm 1x19 wire rigging with dual backstays

• Casteele was sandblasted to bare steel and completely repainted in 2012.  Please refer to post further into the blog for details of the work.

Deck

·  30-inch high 1-¼ inch stainless steel stanchions

·  Full length polished stainless steel toe rails (3 inches high by 2 inches deep), mounted on stainless steel tabs provide easy drainage of water from the deck

· 1x19 lifelines (2010)

· Custom deck netting (2010) (not reinstalled after refit but stored inside)

Hull

• ·  Hull is 3/16” steel plate with angle and flat bar framing system and polyurethane blown-in foam insulation. Deck plating is 1/8” inch steel.
• ¾ integral keel with lead ballast and fuel tanks within 
• The deck-stepped mast is braced below deck by a
  steel compression post.

 

Interior

•   Safe, secure rapidly draining, self-bailing cockpit.  
•   Tek Dek installed 2012.

• Dry,  lockable aft lazerette.  Outboard propane storage on both starboard and port with new Xintex regulator and propane line to stove and Xintex propane detection system. 
• Apologies for forgetting to bring out the Lowrance HDS 5 plotter (2010) for photo.  
•  Viking RescueYou Cat 1+ 6 person liferaft mounted in a hard case on aft rail with upgraded emergency kit inside (2010)

This is an older photo taken by the previous owners.  Sadly we do not have photos of us sailing and this does not show the new bimini installed in 2010 nor the Monitor windvane secured to the transom.  The sails are aboard for inspection and have spent considerable time in dry storage.
